Smile TAM Airlines - Dont Fly Tam Airlines Unless You Love Aggravation.

Hi everyone out there who has been treated like a piece of trash by your airlines. Well TAM airlines has done it to me again. They changed my flight without contacting me!! They had my email and phone numbers but they didnt call. They also included an extra stop along the way for me for 4 hours which is great since this is the first time I am flying with my baby. They dont offer an apologies and just say there is nothing we can do.
The flight was apparently overbooked and of couse its my problem now.

Lets face it folks all airlines suck for lack of a better term. But the good airlines or not as bad are the ones that try to help instead of just letting you hold on the line and never give you any help with your situation.

My advice is fly less especially with your family and drive more. Its just ridiculous what you have to go through these days for a flight. You spend 5 hours at the airports with nothing to do except wait like a moran. Your trip is already ruined because your too stressed out to relax,

Tchau to flying especially on the airbus planes that have been malfunctioning.

Good day all and dont take the maltreatment, use your rights as US citizens and complain to as many agencies as you can if you have the time.

God Bless.

first question is did you book the trip with the airline direct or the travel agent? If there was a change made, it's usually to the travel agent that gets notify who would then notify you (or should. usually they don't which is why I stopped using em). Second, you are not without options. If is their schedule change, and you booked a direct you should be able to rebook on another direct flight another day, unless you have to go the day that is booked.

You hit the nail on the head, Silent Bob. From another post:

They also have a wonderful tracj record with leaving other clients in the wind.

Tchau to both TAM Airlines and BACC Travel !!!
Two problems here. First, you communicated directly with TAM about the bassinet (which is what it is called) but turned around and purchased your ticket through an agent. If the agent didn't follow through and confirm the bassinet it's their fault, not TAM's.

Regarding the schedule change, again it is your travel agency's responsibility to communicate those changes to you and resolve any issues with TAM. You paid them for their services and their services don't end with the issuance of the tickets. When you book through an agency the airline doesn't receive your contact information such as your telephone number and e-mail address.

For the number of complaints we see here that are the fault of the travel agencies I think there should be a separate forum for agency complaints! As for this being posted in the Air Canada forum, I have alerted the mods.

Smile Tam

Hi fellow members,

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my complaint.
I know I posted in the aircanada forum, its because I saw another Tam unsatisfied customer there.

I bought the ticket through the travel agency BACC travel. But before I did this I explained to them that I wanted a baby basket for my newborn. They didnt really look into it because the agent just asked her supervisor if I can purchase the baby's ticket separately, which is what I wanted.

Anyway I called TAM just to confirm this info before I actually bought the ticket and they told me yes it can be done to. Nobody checked to see what plane we would be using because not all planes have this availability.

Long story short, I bought the tickets and went to the TAm office near my house to purchase the baby's ticket. The person in the TAM office didnt even check if the planes had this availability.

Well after spending 4 hours on the phone, TAM told me they changed the plane and it now has the baby basket availability! I am not kidding 4 hours everyone plus another 2 hours before that with questions about traveling with a newborn and another hour with BACC travel.

TAM said that the basket is confirmed so we will see. I am not holding my breath because they always change things on us. They left my 70 year old mother at the airport in Sao Paulo once when they said there would be someone to help her. My mom almost had a heart attack making the connection because it was so close.

Anyway all airlines have this lack of communication problem but its just amazing things cant be resolved quicker. After spending so much time and aggravation why would I want to fly again. I have long lines, metal detector checkpoints, swine flu and faulty Airbus jets to deal with so who needs this? They should be paying us!

Hope this helps some parents flying with their newborns. Thanks again to the members who responded. Best wishes and good luck.

Jon.

Im a frequent business traveller and do the flying as part of my job. Lately I also had a bad experience with TAM flying from Miami to Paraguay via Sao Paulo and back. I started writing a blog about surprisingly good customer experiences, but occasionally I also include some negative ones in order to vent and because service providers should be given the opportunity to learn from their mistakes. Have fun reading:
