Thumbs down New Surcharges for Aisle seats in COACH!!

As if all the inconveniences of air travel aren't bad enough, US Airways now charges a surcharge for the privilege of sitting in an aisle seat. In Coach! When you check in, you'll be defaulted to a middle seat, and offered the privilege of an aisle for a $20-$35 surcharge. So I will NOT be using that airline again, and encourage all of you to share this and NOT use them either. If consumers let their feelings known, it may help stop other airlines from following suit!

were you looking at seats towards the front of the aircraft? i just flew orf-clt-ord on Tuesday. I was originally booked in a center seat (courtesy of my company lol) but i went online the morning of departure and saw there were available aisle/window seats located towards the back. I moved to an aisle seat with no charge. My coworkers also changed their seats (one friends isn't even a mp member) took an aisle seat towards the back and no charge to her either. I know USairways has been charging for their "choice seating" for quite some time now. Even if you go into your reservation and their are choice seats open, and you dont have a seat, alot of the time they will assign you one of those seats at no charge

seats weren't in front. Seats were in back. I ws so surprised as a super frequent flyer, that I googled the concept and found several articles saying that some airlines (US Airways in the lead) are charging for anything considered a "consumer preference" including aisle seats.

Default Window and Aisle seat surcharges

Just heard from a travel agent that this is going to begin happening with all the Airlines. AS is usually the case with all new policies. One begins it then theyall follow suit. With companies tightening their travel policies regarding reimburseable expenses, the average business traveler won't be able to get reimbursed for these surcharges. I've been traveling for 30 years, and this change may just be the final straw for me!!!
