Unhappy I know the airlines can't predict the weather, but...

To Whom It May Concern:

My name is Schlomo, and I’m sorry to say but I am writing in regards to a series of issues I had on a first class flight scheduled on 7/19 from ROC-EWR-LAS. I’ve flown with Continental several times before and am happy to say I’ve never had a problem before, but I felt compelled to write about this incident as it was quite an inconvenience.

Like I stated before, I had a first class ticket from ROC-EWR-LAS on flights 3285/468, and called several hours before to check the status of the flights as there was a storm in NYC. I requested to be put on a flight going from ROC-CLE-LAS instead, and was told that I would have to pay about $400 to be switched to it. Instead, I went to the airport and spoke with two people, one at the from desk and one at the terminal, who both told me that my flight should be on time, but if not, then they would be able to get me on that particular flight, even though it may not be first class, which I agreed to.

Unfortunately, my flight was delayed three times, and I kept requesting to be put on the counter flight (as I’d arrived to the airport hours before my departure) and was told that there was no way I would be able to get on the flight from ROC-EWR-LAS or ROC-CLE-LAS, and that I would have to book a hotel room. I booked my room at the Radisson that was suggested to me, and was booked on a first class flight on July 20th from ROC-CLE-LAS (flight 2141/481). However, I found out later that several other people were switched to the ROC-CLE-LAS flight AFTER my request, and the flight to ROC-EWR-LAS also went out, albeit a few hours late.

I’m very upset about these circumstances. I purchased a first class ticket because I figured flying first class from EWR-LAS was worth the extra money, as it’s a long flight and I was going to be getting in late at night. I then ended up spending $67.26 on a hotel, and most infuriating, I ended up calling into work the next day, which was a HUGE loss on my paycheck, when I could have flown in the same night, which is what I needed. This doesn’t include taxi costs as well, as the person who was going to pick me up from the airport no longer could since I was at work, and food that I had to buy that night while I was stranded in Rochester.

I’m not normally nitpicky about unfortunate circumstances, and I know that you cannot control the weather, but I’m just so angry that I didn’t get home in time for work when it would have been entirely possible. I am requesting compensation for the extreme inconvenience that I experienced and my extra expenses, and request that somebody please give me a call at 702-867-5309.

Thank you for your time concerning my letter,

Schlomo
