Have been fighting for over 2 months to get a fully refundable first class ticket refunded. Have been forced to jump through many hoops like having to physically go to their office to show my credit card just to cancel the reservation. Despite canceling they are still not willing to issue refund. From other comments here I am not alone. If Etihad systematically is doing this, it is probably federal courts that will punish them finally. My experience is they are crooks who will do whatever to cheat customers.
